The American Heart Association encourages people to wear red to show support for women who have been affected by cardiovascular disease.

This particular day in the US is always celebrated on the first Friday in February each year. This tradition began in 2002 by The Heart Truth and is designed to bring awareness to everyone about heart health in women, which is the leading health threat.
