Coloring eggs and having sweet cakes is always a great time for the folks at Hyden Health and Rehab to share the true reason for Easter; the resurrection of Jesus and new beginnings. Residents decorated the facility with Easter colors and bunnies and found themselves amused as they handed out props to their peers–Easter Bunny masks with sunglasses on them to wear when family came to visit.
Easter’s tradition of colored eggs and the Easter Bunny have a long history. The egg is considered an ancient symbol of new life and is associated in celebrating spring. In Christian circles, eggs are said to represent Jesus’ emergence from the tomb and resurrection on the third day. As for the Easter bunny, that tradition first arrived in America when German immigrants living in Pennsylvania in the 1700s Pennsylvania brought their tradition of an egg-laying hare called “Osterhase” or “Oschter Haws.”
The residents and staff of Hyden HRC wants to wish everyone a Happy Easter and to have blessed day.
